Athletic Training Practice Exam 2026 - Free Athletic Training Practice Questions and Study Guide

Supporting athletes' self-esteem is a strategy that can inadvertently contribute to their reliance on substances like anabolic steroids. When athletes are struggling with body image or self-worth, reinforcing their self-esteem without addressing the underlying issues may not be effective. Instead, it could lead to a further entrenchment in their unhealthy practices, as they may look for validation through performance-enhancing drugs rather than healthy self-improvement techniques.

Effective strategies to assist these athletes typically involve building trust through education, avoiding scare tactics, and being aware of discussions surrounding nutrition. These approaches foster open communication about the risks of steroid use and encourage healthier lifestyle choices without putting undue pressure on the athlete's self-perception.
